2020-2021 Cities in the 21st Century- Covid19 and Well-Being Economy
Term Description of the 2020/21 Studio of Master of City Planning
The conventional economic approach that has the inclination to exclude the human well-being in economic developments has been proven to be inefficient once more, with the covid-19 pandemic. Besides its destructive results, the pandemic was the trigger factor behind the changing attitude towards the relationship between the well-being of human, and that of the economy which is why the term “well-being economy” came to the fore. In this cycle where human- and economic well-being feed each other, the city is defined to be the spatial reflection of this relationship.
In the 2020-21 studio of Master of City Planning, the studio team aspire to construct a strong interrelationship between the well-being economy understandings and the environmental, spatial, economic and social aspects of the city through referring to resilience, sustainability, adaptability, inclusiveness, accountability and livability.
